Scott White's Early Coaching Years

Before his time at UCLA, White had a diverse coaching journey. From 2007 to 2008, he served as the linebackers coach at Seattle Preparatory School in Washington. This early experience laid the foundation for his future success in college football. In 2009, he took on the role of assistant coach at Central Washington, further expanding his coaching horizons.During his tenure at Palomar College in 2010, White continued to hone his coaching skills. His attention to detail and ability to develop players became evident during this period.

UCLA's Impact on White's Career

White's association with UCLA began in 2011 when he was hired as a quality control coach. His hard work and dedication led to his elevation to linebackers coach and special teams coach in 2015. Over the years, he played a crucial role in developing several linebackers who went on to have successful careers in the NFL.For instance, Jayon Brown and Kenny Young helped the 2015 and 2016 UCLA teams maintain a low yards-per-play average. Their defensive prowess was a result of White's coaching. In 2016, White was voted Pac-12 Recruiter of the Year by 247 Sports, highlighting his ability to attract top talent.

White's Time at San Jose State

From 2018 to 2023, White spent five seasons at San Jose State. Here, he coached one of the nation's leading tacklers, Kyle Harmon. Harmon's impressive career stats, including 442 tackles over five seasons, speak volumes about White's coaching abilities.In 2021, White was nominated for the Broyles Award as one of the top FBS assistant coaches. His work with the Spartans also led to notable achievements in special teams. The team ranked 10th nationally in blocked kicks and 13th overall in punt-return defense.

Current UCLA Assignment

In 2024, White returned to UCLA as a defensive analyst. His role is to provide valuable insights and guidance to the team.
