UGA Pro Day Highlights: Bulldogs Showcase Talent for NFL Scouts
2025-03-12

The University of Georgia's indoor practice facility buzzed with excitement on Wednesday as 18 players from the football program prepared to impress NFL scouts. Among them was Mykel Williams, an edge rusher who has come a long way since his freshman days watching upperclassmen like Nolan Smith showcase their skills. This time, Williams and other top prospects were ready to prove their worth. The Bulldogs have been a powerhouse in recent years, with 10 players selected in the first round over the past three seasons, including Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter.

Williams ran the 40-yard dash, clocking an unofficial time of 4.74 seconds, demonstrating his speed and determination. He also announced plans for a private workout with inside linebacker Jalon Walker on April 17th, just a week before the NFL Draft. Both players are projected to be high picks, with Williams at No. 20 and Walker at No. 8 according to some mock drafts. Despite facing challenges last season due to an ankle injury, Williams remains optimistic about his future in the league. Coach Kirby Smart praised Williams' resilience, noting that scouts had witnessed his exceptional performance during fall camp.

Jalon Walker, known for his versatility on the field, is waiting to fully recover from a quad injury before showcasing his athleticism. Meanwhile, safety Dan Jackson, who missed the NFL combine, made a strong impression with his 4.37-4.50-second 40-yard dash times. Jackson's performance highlighted his quickness and range, proving that he belongs among the elite safeties in this year's draft class. Malaki Starks, another standout safety, also participated in position drills, aiming to make a name for himself in the upcoming draft. The presence of three NFL head coaches—Mike McDaniel, Raheem Morris, and Mike Tomlin—further emphasized the significance of UGA's Pro Day in the scouting process.

The Bulldogs' talent pool continues to captivate the attention of NFL teams. As players like Williams and Walker prepare for the next chapter of their careers, they carry forward the legacy of excellence that has defined Georgia football. Their dedication and hard work not only reflect personal achievements but also inspire future generations of athletes to strive for greatness. The success of these players serves as a testament to the power of perseverance and the pursuit of dreams, reminding us all that with effort and determination, anything is possible.
