The United Shore Professional Baseball League's New Bat Dog Apprentice
2024-11-25
November 25th, 2024 in Rochester, Mich., the United Shore Professional Baseball League (USPBL powered by UWM) is excited to introduce a new member to their team. A charming puppy will serve as the apprentice to the current Bat Dog JJ, The Field General, who retrieves the bat at every USPBL baseball game at Jimmy John’s Field. With a lively tail and boundless energy, this new puppy will be in the new Puppy Pen during the 2025 season.

Adding a New Puppy to the USPBL Family

The newest addition to the USPBL was born on October 5th in Anderson, Calif. This little one is sure to have a passion for baseballs, bats, and the lively crowds. During the 2025 and 2026 baseball seasons, the puppy will undergo training under the tutelage of USPBL Super Star Bat Dog JJ. By 2027, the puppy will be fully prepared to take on the field on a full-time basis, combining charm, athleticism, and dedication to enhance the game day experience for fans. At that time, JJ can retire from active field work and relish lazy summer days at the ballpark. 1: The significance of this new bat dog apprentice cannot be overstated. It brings a fresh energy and a sense of excitement to the USPBL. The puppy's early days in the Puppy Pen will be a time of growth and learning as it prepares to step into the limelight. 2: The fact that the puppy was born in California adds a touch of uniqueness to the team. It shows that the USPBL is looking to bring in talent from different parts of the country and integrate it into their baseball culture.

Owner's Perspective on the New Addition

“Our new bat dog is a wonderful addition to our team,” said Andy Appleby, Owner, Commissioner and CEO. “We've been searching for the right personality and energy to bring to the ballpark, and we think he will become a fan favorite. Not only will he learn from JJ, who is exceptional at retrieving bats, but he will also have an infectious spirit that will bring joy to everyone around.” 1: Appleby's words highlight the thought and care that went into selecting this new bat dog. The team is committed to providing the best experience for both the players and the fans. 2: The idea of the puppy having an infectious spirit is crucial. It means that the energy it brings will spread throughout the stadium and create a more lively atmosphere during the games.

Fan Involvement in Naming the Puppy

Starting this Friday, November 29, fans of all ages are encouraged to submit their best name suggestions for this little guy. The winning name will be announced on Friday, December 6. Submissions can be made HERE, and the link will also be shared on social media. The winner of the naming contest will receive a free Cabana Suite at Jimmy John’s Field on Opening Day – May 16, 2025. 1: This initiative allows fans to feel a part of the USPBL's journey. It gives them an opportunity to contribute and have their name on the lips of everyone at the ballpark. 2: The free Cabana Suite as a prize is a great incentive for fans to get involved. It shows the USPBL's appreciation for their support and gives them a special reward for their creativity.

JJ's Continued Role

JJ will continue to retrieve bats and interact with fans at all home games during the 2025 and 2026 seasons. While the new bat dog apprentice will be around for photos between training sessions before taking on the batters box in 2027, JJ's presence will still be felt on the field. 1: JJ's role as a fan favorite is secure. His ability to retrieve bats and engage with the crowd has made him an integral part of the USPBL experience. 2: The transition from JJ to the new bat dog apprentice will be a smooth one. JJ will serve as a mentor and guide, ensuring that the apprentice is ready to take on the responsibilities of the job.
