Saturday marks the beginning of bowl season with the Cricket Celebration Bowl at 12 p.m. ET. Jackson State will face off against South Carolina State at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. This is the first taste of the postseason excitement. Later in the evening, at 9 p.m., the IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl takes place at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama, where South Alabama takes on Western Michigan.
As the week progresses, there are several more bowl games lined up. On Tuesday, December 17, the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, will see Memphis battle it out with West Virginia. Wednesday, December 18, brings the Boca Raton Bowl at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Florida, with Western Kentucky facing James Madison. And on Thursday, December 19, the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, will feature Georgia Southern against Sam Houston.
The College Football Playoff is set to begin on December 20 and 21. The first round games will determine which teams move on to the quarterfinals, which will be held on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The semifinals will take place on January 9 and 10, and finally, on January 20, the national championship will be decided.
The final 12-team bracket was recently revealed, with Oregon as the top seed and SMU making it in while Alabama was left out. This adds an extra layer of excitement as teams fight for a chance to be crowned champions.
