In preparation for an important basketball matchup, the Winston-Salem State University women's team is ready to face off against St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, North Carolina. The game is scheduled to commence at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, January 13th, inside Harris Court Gym. This encounter marks the inaugural meeting between the Rams and the Knights.

The Rams bring a wealth of experience into this game with six returning players from last season. Among them are sophomore La’Niya Simes, juniors Alexandria Warren, Jakaiya Mack, and Chloe Williams, senior Christiana McLean, graduate student Sierra Hunter, and Tolisha Walker. Additionally, the team has welcomed several new faces during the off-season, including freshmen Alana Biosse, sophomores Khauri Little, Karina Scott, Zion Duncan, junior Kierran Walker, and graduate students Jaleesa Lanier and Maya-Madison Walker.

Jakaiya Mack has been recognized for her outstanding performance, earning a spot on the 2024-2025 All-CIAA Women’s Basketball Preseason Team Frontcourt. Last season, she played in 15 games, starting in 12, averaging 8 points per game. Despite a recent loss to Elizabeth City State, where Kierren Walker led the scoring with 22 points, the team remains focused and determined. Leading scorer Christiana McLean averages 10.3 points per game, while La’Niya Simes contributes 7.7 points on average. The Rams have been averaging 57.7 points per game.

The Knights from St. Andrews University enter this contest with a record of 6-10 (3-7 AAC). They recently suffered a defeat against Johnson (TN), with Londaisha Smith leading the scoring with an average of 11.8 points, followed by Ashley Starks with 10.8 points. St. Andrews averages 59.1 points per game.
