Winter Weather Disrupts Racing Schedule at Turfway Park
2025-01-10

The challenging winter conditions have forced Turfway Park to postpone racing activities planned for Friday evening. Despite the diligent efforts of the track maintenance team, safety concerns due to the residual impact of last week's severe cold and adverse weather prevail. The region around Florence, Kentucky, faced a winter weather warning until early Saturday morning, with predictions of significant snowfall. Previously, racing events on Wednesday and Thursday had already been canceled due to remnants of a winter storm.

Moving forward, the dedicated crew is working tirelessly around the clock to ready the track for this weekend's schedule. Live racing is anticipated to recommence on Saturday afternoon at 5:55 p.m. EST. Consequently, the $180,036 Late Pick 5 carryover that was initially scheduled for Friday will now be part of Saturday's late sequence. Sunday’s racing program remains unaffected, with the first race set for 1 p.m. To accommodate the previously canceled races, Turfway Park plans to introduce extended 10-race programs starting from the upcoming Wednesday.

In light of these adjustments, Turfway Park demonstrates resilience in adapting to unforeseen circumstances while prioritizing safety. The commitment to ensuring a secure environment for all participants reflects the importance of putting well-being first. This proactive approach highlights the park's dedication to delivering quality racing experiences despite challenging conditions.
