On Thursday morning, a group of thirteen graded-stakes winners took to the tracks for their workouts. These talented horses, each with their own unique stories and achievements, showed off their skills and prepared for their next races. Johannes: A Breeders’ Cup Mile Contender
The 4-year-old Nyquist colt Johannes, who was the runner-up in the Breeders’ Cup Mile last time out, worked five furlongs at Santa Anita in 1:01.6. This was the 11th fastest of 25 works at the distance. Johannes had been on a winning streak, having won four straight graded stakes before his second-place finish. Daily Racing Form reported that he could be pointed to the Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup Turf on Jan. 25, with a possible prep in the San Gabriel (G2) at Santa Anita on Dec. 26.
