This is a deeply saddening event for Siegel High School. Martin's impact on the tennis program was immense, with numerous players having gone through his coaching. His dedication and passion for the sport were evident in every aspect of his work.

When Siegel opened in 2003, Martin took on the task of starting the tennis programs. He coached every year until 2023, with the exception of 2006 when he took a year off for health reasons. His commitment to the sport was unwavering, and he left an indelible mark on the Siegel tennis program.Martin led the Siegel boys tennis program to the state tournament seven times, showcasing his exceptional coaching skills. His individual champions in 2024 with Rich LaLance and in 2005 with Kyle Wishing further demonstrate his ability to bring out the best in his players.For the girls program, he guided it to six state tournament appearances, including a remarkable 2008 Class AAA state championship. The achievements of Ashlee Boles as an individual TSSAA state champion in 2012 and Boles and Marissa Kovach as doubles champions in 2013 add to his extensive list of accomplishments.Martin's Continued Involvement at Siegel
Even after retiring from teaching chemistry at Siegel in 2020, Martin remained as the school's tennis coach. His love for the sport and his connection with the students and the community were evident.
