The Augusta University men’s tennis team has made significant strides this season, reaching the No. 33 spot in the latest ITA Division II national rankings. This accomplishment highlights their remarkable performance amidst fierce competition within one of the most challenging regions in collegiate sports. Competing in the Peach Belt Conference, which boasts five nationally ranked programs, the Jaguars have showcased resilience and skill. Meanwhile, the women’s team also enters the rankings this season, marking a historic moment for both teams as they achieve national recognition.
Positioned in the Southeast Region, Augusta University faces tough opponents regularly, including other top-ranked schools from the Peach Belt Conference such as North Georgia at No. 21, Lander at No. 24, Columbus State at No. 25, and Georgia College at No. 35. Throughout the spring season, the Jaguars demonstrated strong competitive spirit by securing wins against several regional rivals and pushing higher-ranked teams to their limits. Their accomplishments include victories over Lenoir-Rhyne and Belmont Abbey, along with a closely contested match versus Lander.
In recent matches, Augusta University triumphed consecutively against Emmanuel and Montevallo, further strengthening their standing. With just a few games left before the conference tournament, the team aims to maintain momentum heading into crucial matchups. The regular-season finale is scheduled for April 17 against Flagler College, followed by participation in the Peach Belt Conference Championships on April 25.
