2025-03-13

Two standout athletes from Beach High School, Chandler Reid and Kobie Goldwire, have taken significant steps toward their college football careers. Reid, known for his versatility on the field and court, signed to play football at Avila University in Missouri. Meanwhile, Goldwire inked a deal with Bluffton University in Ohio. Both students have been celebrated not only for their athletic prowess but also for their exemplary academic performance and leadership qualities.

Chandler Reid made a lasting impression on Beach High's football and basketball teams during his tenure as a student-athlete. As a key player, he excelled in multiple roles, including as a point guard in basketball and as a cornerback in football, earning All-Region honors for two consecutive seasons. His journey began when head coach Michael Thompson recognized Reid’s potential early in his high school career. This season, Reid showcased his defensive skills with 12 pass breakups and four interceptions, contributing significantly to the Bulldogs' first 5-win season since 2017.

Beyond his on-field achievements, Reid comes from a family of accomplished athletes. His older brother, Shabari Davis, played at Southeast Missouri State and later signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. His younger sister, Mariah, is already making waves in girls' basketball at Beach High. Despite being reserved by nature, Reid has emerged as a quiet yet influential leader both on and off the field. He expressed gratitude towards his brother and Coach Thompson, crediting them for their support and mentorship in shaping his future.

Kobie Goldwire, another pillar of the Bulldogs’ defense, is set to continue his football career at Bluffton University. Renowned for his intelligence and physicality on the field, Goldwire has been a model student-athlete. Coach Thompson praised him for setting an example through his commitment to academics and athletics. Goldwire acknowledged the impact Thompson had on his life, emphasizing the importance of discipline and coachability that helped him secure this opportunity.

The signing day marked a new chapter for both athletes, who plan to carry forward their dedication and work ethic into their respective collegiate programs. Their stories exemplify how hard work and perseverance can open doors to promising futures in sports and beyond. The legacy they leave behind will undoubtedly inspire future generations of Beach High athletes.
