2024-12-12
The UW Huskies embarked on a demanding path in their inaugural Big Ten season and now find themselves gearing up for another tough slate in Year 2. Their schedule for the 2025 season has been unveiled, presenting a series of challenges and opportunities. Let's delve into the details of this exciting football journey.

Unraveling the UW Huskies' Tough Big Ten Schedule

First Impressions of the 2025 Slate

The UW Huskies' 2025 football schedule is nothing short of a gauntlet. They are set to face eight teams with winning records from the previous season, including three with national title aspirations in 2024. This includes tough matchups against Ohio State, Michigan, and other formidable opponents. As former quarterback Brock Huard pointed out during his Blue 88 segment, it won't be an easy ride. The Huskies will have to bring their A-game to every game. The nine-game Big Ten schedule alone is a significant challenge. Home games against 2024 College Football Playoff qualifiers like Oregon and Ohio State, along with trips to Wisconsin and Michigan, will test their mettle. Cross-country trips to Maryland and facing an Illinois squad currently ranked No. 20 add to the difficulty.

Non-Conference Challenges

The Huskies' non-conference slate is also much more challenging in 2025. All three of their opponents have won at least eight games this season. In-state rival WSU might face a setback due to expected attrition in the transfer portal. However, opponents like Colorado State and UC Davis provide a clear step up from the teams they faced in the 2024 season opener. Colorado State had an eight-win regular season and finished tied for second in the Mountain West Conference. UC Davis currently has 11 wins and is in the FCS quarterfinals.
