Bayne's performance last season was nothing short of remarkable, and his selection as a unanimous pick is a testament to his skills.

Bayne's Last Season Highlights

Last season, Carson Bayne was a force to be reckoned with. He finished second on the CLT with a batting average of.299, leading the team with 13 home runs and 47 RBIs. His 64 hits tied for the most in the Green and White, and he also led the team with three triples. Bayne had an incredible 17 multi-hit games and 10 multi-RBI games, showcasing his consistency at the plate. He sat second on the team with 12 doubles and 42 runs scored, demonstrating his all-around offensive ability.Not only was Bayne a regular contributor with his bat, but he also had a knack for clutch hits. Last year, he had a six-RBI game at No. 9 East Carolina, including hitting a game-winning grand slam in the top of the ninth inning to help the Niners knock off the Pirates in the series finale from Greenville. The following weekend, he followed it up with a three-homer, five-RBI game, tying the program record for home runs in a game. He hit a game-tying solo shot in the bottom of the ninth as part of back-to-back-to-back home runs for Charlotte to walk-off Memphis, showing his ability to come through in crucial moments.

Preseason All-Conference Team and Poll Results

Mason Lytle of UTSA was named the American Athletic Conference Preseason Player of the Year, while UAB's Colin Daniel took home Preseason Pitcher of the Year honors. Both superlative winners joined Bayne as unanimous selections, along with Mauricio Millan from Wichita State. In the Preseason Coaches Poll, Charlotte was picked to finish fifth in the league standings. East Carolina led the way at the top with eight first-place votes, followed by Wichita State with the remaining two first-place votes. Tulane finished third in the team poll, while UTSA slotted into fourth place right above the Niners to round out the top five.Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players for the Preseason All-Conference Team or for their own team in the Coaches Poll.

Charlotte's 2025 season is set to begin on Feb. 14 with a three-game series against Northeastern, kicking off the 55-game schedule that includes 33 home games and 18 contests against teams qualifying for the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
