Celebrating Community Spirit: Liberty County's Second Annual Pancake Breakfast
2025-02-20

The Liberty County community recently gathered for its second annual Celebrity Chef Pancake Breakfast, an event that brought together local businesses and residents in a delightful morning of culinary enjoyment. This charitable occasion featured contributions from various sponsors and celebrated the efforts of top chefs who were recognized with special awards. The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority made significant contributions both financially and through active participation. Attorney Luke Moses earned accolades as the "Gourmet Chef" for his innovative additions to the breakfast menu, while Commissioner Justin Frasier received recognition for his unique cooking style. The event concluded with engaging trivia and line dancing, promoting STEM education and honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The event was marked by a spirit of generosity and camaraderie. Local establishments such as meat markets, fast-food chains, and restaurants generously donated resources, ensuring the success of the morning festivities. Among the notable contributors was the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, which not only provided the largest monetary donation but also actively participated by supplying chefs for all shifts. Their early morning performance of “Set it Off” added a lively touch to the proceedings. The sorority members were rewarded with gift cards from a local restaurant for their outstanding support.

Attorney Luke Moses, hailed as the "Gourmet Chef," surprised attendees with his creative use of blueberries and chocolate chips, elevating the pancake experience. His unexpected additions became so popular that guests continued to request them even after his shift ended. Moses' culinary flair earned him two special gift cards from the same establishment that honored the sorority members.

Commissioner Justin Frasier’s approach to flipping pancakes was unconventional yet entertaining. Initially struggling with the technique, he eventually managed to perfect his flip, earning him the title of “No Flip” Celebrity Pancake Chef. For his efforts, Frasier was awarded a complimentary meal at a local buffet restaurant. His perseverance and humor added to the overall charm of the event.

The morning concluded with a trivia session that highlighted the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., followed by lively line dancing accompanied by DJ Donald Currie. Attendees enjoyed a variety of breakfast items, including pancakes, sausages, bacon, orange juice, hot chocolate, and coffee. The STEM-themed T-shirts distributed during the trivia segment further emphasized the educational aspect of the gathering. All proceeds from this heartwarming event will benefit the children at the Liberty County Boys & Girls Club, underscoring the community's commitment to supporting youth development.
