Game-Changing 3-Point Shooting
During the impressive 48-29 romp over arch-rival New Philadelphia, Karam and Bollon showcased their "3-point shooting thing." The duo combined for an astounding 27 points, with Bollon taking game-scoring honors with 17 points and Karam following closely with 10. In that contest alone, they combined to nail five triples, leaving the opposition in awe. This shooting prowess is not a one-time occurrence. Karam, in particular, cracked the OHSAA's list of top 3-pointer shooters in the state last winter. She made an impressive 80 threes as a junior, a feat that speaks volumes about her shooting ability.Thriving on the Big Stage
Both Bollon and Karam have a special affinity for playing on the big stage, especially when Dover faces off against New Philadelphia. The recent victory over the arch-rival Quakers was a moment of pure excitement for them."It was just exciting, and I liked the atmosphere," Bollon said. "It was like hyping me up, and I think that's what helped me. The (17 points) is my highlight, I scored 15 points in the last game."Karam echoed similar sentiments, stating, "It (defeating the arch-rival Quakers) truly is one of the best experiences, and just like Ansley said, I love the atmosphere. The atmosphere is what makes it fun. This is definitely a close second (for personal career highlights). My first one is definitely last year hitting the game-winner against John Glenn."Tireless Work Ethic
Both Karam and Bollon are known for their tireless work ethic. Karam explained, "I work at least five or six days a week on basketball. Sunday is my rest day, because it’s the Lord’s day."This dedication is evident in their performances on the court. Karam is not only a standout in basketball but also a standout shot put and discus thrower on the Dover track team, where she will be a four-year letter-winner this season.Meanwhile, Bollon, a junior who will earn her second varsity letter in basketball this season, has taken her game to another level through dogged determination. "Ansley is just a kid who has worked her tail off to continue to improve," said Dover head coach Kyle Dummermuth.Team Goals and Aspirations
Karam and Bollon have set their sights on big goals for the Tornadoes. With four of five starters returning from a sectional championship team of a year ago, Dover is among the top sectional-district contenders in their new Division III tournament classification this season.“As for the team (goal), I just want to win a bunch of games,” Bollon said.“I would love to go to college and play basketball,” said Karam. “But for this year, I would love for our team to win a district title and go to regionals. I think that would be a great team goal.”The hard work and determination of Karam and Bollon, along with the support of their coach and teammates, have set the stage for a successful season ahead.
