The 85th annual East Texas Golden Gloves Boxing Tournament will take place from February 10 to February 15 at the Longview Exhibit Center. Meanwhile, the East Texas Coaches Association (ETCA) will host its Hall of Honor banquet on March 1, recognizing outstanding contributions to football. These events highlight the vibrant sports culture in the region, bringing together athletes, coaches, and supporters to celebrate achievements and foster community spirit.
From February 10 to February 15, the Longview Exhibit Center will be transformed into a hub of boxing excitement. This year marks the 85th edition of the Southwestern Association of USA Boxing-sanctioned tournament, attracting competitors aged 8 to 40 from across East Texas and northwest Louisiana. Among the highlights are two special divisions: the All-Comer’s Division, which provides novice fighters with their first taste of public competition, and the Women’s Open Division, celebrating female boxers. All proceeds from ticket sales will support winners as they advance to the State and National Golden Gloves finals. Doors open at 6 p.m., with general admission priced at $15 for teens and adults, $10 for military personnel, and $7 for children aged 5-12. Ringside tables seating eight can be reserved for $300.

Kenneth Ferro of Kilgore will receive the Kyle Preston Assistant Coach Award, while Larry Centers, a former player from Tatum/SFA, will be recognized for his remarkable career. Additionally, John and Chase Barbe of Graduate Sales — Balfour will receive the Distinguished Service Award, Terry Edwards of Longview TASO will be honored as a Football Official, and Carthage will be acknowledged as State Champions.
