The Eastern Michigan University tennis program is all set to showcase its prowess in 23 matches during the 2025 spring season. With 12 of these matches taking place at home, fans can look forward to some thrilling action. Head Coach Ryan Kucera made the announcement on December 5. The Eagles, who had an outstanding 2024 season, advancing to the semifinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament after an impressive 11-0 home record, are ready to kick off the new year.

Opening the Season at Home
The Eagles will commence their season on January 18 with a home doubleheader against Ferris State University at the Chippewa Club in Ypsilanti. This sets the stage for an exciting start to the spring. It's a moment of anticipation as the team gears up to face tough opponents right from the get-go.The home advantage seems to be working in their favor, and they are eager to build on their past success. This opening stretch will test their skills and determination as they aim to continue their winning streak.Traveling for Tough Matches
After the home opener, the Eagles will embark on a journey to southwest Ohio. They will play at the University of Cincinnati on January 25 and then at the University of Dayton on January 26. These away matches will provide a different challenge, pushing the team to adapt and perform at their best.It's a crucial phase where they need to prove their mettle on the road and prepare themselves for the upcoming MAC schedule. The experience of playing in different environments will only make them stronger.Hosting and Facing Tough Opponents
Eastern will then welcome Oakland University on February 1 and travel to face Michigan State University on February 2. These home and away matches showcase the diverse nature of their schedule.They will also play host to Butler University on February 16 and both the University of Findlay and Eastern Illinois University on February 22. These matches against tough opponents will test their teamwork and strategic abilities.Spring Break Competitions
During the spring break, the Eagles will venture into southern California for matches at the University of California San Diego on February 26 and at the University of California Riverside on February 27. This is a great opportunity for the team to gain exposure and compete against different opponents.It's a chance for them to showcase their skills on a different stage and bring back valuable experiences.MAC Play and Closing the Season
After the spring break, the Eagles will return to the road to open MAC play with their opener at Northern Illinois University on March 16 and then take on Western Michigan University on March 21.Back at home, they will play host to three consecutive MAC matches in March, including competitions with Ball State University, Western Michigan, and Miami University. These matches will determine their standing in the conference.In April, the regular season concludes with five matches, including three on the road and two at home. The month opens with road contests at the University of Toledo and finishes at the University at Buffalo.They will then welcome NIU and play host to Bowling Green State University for Senior Day. The regular season ends with a trip to Ball State.Similar to previous seasons, the top four finishers in the MAC standings will earn a place in the 2025 MAC Tournament hosted by Toledo from April 24-25. The winner of the tournament will secure the league's automatic berth in the 2025 NCAA Championships.The Eagles are coming off a 12-11 season in 2023-24, with Kucera guiding them to the semifinals of the conference tournament in three consecutive seasons and earning the fourth seed in the 2024 MAC Tournament.They return a wealth of talent and experience with four primary starters and several talented newcomers. In the fall, they participated in several events, including the inaugural MAC Fall Individual Championships where Sabina Brichackova and Prerna Vichare combined to take second place in the doubles event.
