Fordham's Kolarevic and Nguyen Earn National Doubles Ranking in Fall Season

In the world of college tennis, the Division I Women’s ITA Collegiate Tennis National Rankings hold significant importance. Fordham University's women's tennis double pair of Nevena Kolarevic and Julianne Nguyen have made their mark with a recent inclusion in these rankings. They emerged as the 109th ranked doubles team in the nation, a testament to their hard work and talent.
Fall Season Success
The fall season was a fruitful one for Kolarevic and Nguyen. They advanced to the ITA Conference Masters Championships in November, having won the Atlantic 10 Master’s Qualifier at Davidson College in October. This victory earned them a bye to the quarterfinal round, where they faced VCU's Mariam Ibrahim Mohamed Metwally and Amelie Jewelwics. With a decisive 8-4 win, they showcased their prowess.In the semifinals, the pair shut out Duquesne's Kaya Rand and Alexandra O’Brien with an impressive 8-0 score, advancing to the finals. There, they defeated Richmond's Sofia Maria Barbulescu and Elizabeth Novak in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4, securing their place in the championship.At the ITA Master’s Championship, Kolarevic and Nguyen started with a setback, losing to Xavier’s Clara Owen Abby and Nugent Xavier, 7-5, 6-4. However, they rebounded in the consolation round, defeating Cleveland State’s Sima Heren and Oihane Vicario, 7-5, 6-3. But unfortunately, they were eliminated from the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket, losing to Liberty’s Daniella O’Neill and Maria Turchetto. The first set was won by Kolarevic and Nguyen, 6-4, but they dropped the second, 6-3, and the tiebreaker, 10-7.Despite the setbacks, Kolarevic and Nguyen finished the fall season with an impressive 5-2 doubles record, leaving a lasting impression on the tennis community.
