A significant boost to the Gophers men’s basketball program came recently as coach Niko Medved secured a commitment from Langston Reynolds, a standout player formerly at Northern Colorado. This talented junior brings an impressive resume that highlights his dominant performance on the court. Known for his versatility and scoring prowess, Reynolds has consistently delivered strong numbers over his collegiate career.
Reynolds' achievements include being named to the All-Big Sky first team this past season. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 205 pounds, he averaged 16.0 points, grabbed 5.6 rebounds, and dished out 3.4 assists per game. His shooting efficiency was remarkable, connecting on 59.3% of his field goals and 40.9% from beyond the arc. In addition to his statistical contributions, Reynolds demonstrated his ability to perform under pressure by scoring in double figures in 29 games, including a personal best of 31 points.
Beyond Reynolds, the Gophers are actively enhancing their roster through strategic transfers. Coach Medved now boasts six new additions, featuring players like Jaylen Crocker-Johnson, B.J. Omot, Bobby Durkin, and Robert Viahola. Another promising candidate is Chansey Willis Jr., who recently visited the Gophers and could further bolster the team's backcourt. Willis, recognized as an all-Mid American Conference second-team selection, averages nearly 17 points and close to 6 assists per game, showcasing his dynamic playmaking skills.
The influx of these skilled athletes signifies a pivotal moment for the Gophers basketball program. With each transfer bringing unique strengths and experiences, the team is poised to elevate its competitive edge in upcoming seasons. This strategic recruitment not only enhances the immediate roster depth but also fosters a culture of excellence and ambition within the program, setting the stage for future successes on the national stage.
