Holiday App Festivitas: Decorate Mac with Xmas Lights
2024-12-05
Getting into the holiday spirit while still at work can be a challenge. But fear not! A cute new macOS called Festivitas has emerged to bring the joy of the holidays to your Mac computer screen. With twinkling lights strung up from the menu bar and illuminating the dock, it's a whimsical treat that will make your workday feel a little more festive.

Transform Your Mac with Festive Holiday Lights

Customizing Your Holiday Lights

At launch, Festivitas offers a plethora of customization options. You can adjust things like the cable thickness, size of lights, distance apart, drop height and width, flashing pattern, speed of flash, and colors. This allows you to tailor the lights to your exact preferences and create a truly unique holiday display on your Mac.

You also have the option to switch to white lights instead of colored ones, giving your Mac a more classic holiday look. Additionally, you can disable the lights in the dock or menu bar according to your needs. If the lights are distracting you from seeing important Slack notifications in the dock during work, simply turn them off. Or, if the menu bar lights are in the way of your open Chrome tabs, you can adjust the drop height so the lights sit above the tabs. These customizable features make Festivitas a versatile tool for adding holiday cheer to your Mac.

Enabling and Using Festivitas

The app requires macOS 14.6 or later and needs to be enabled in the Mac's Accessibility settings. It's a simple toggle switch that allows you to easily add the lights to your Mac. Once enabled, the lights are automatically added and you can tweak their look to your heart's content. To turn them off, you can just quit the app from the menu bar or dock, giving you full control over when the holiday lights are on or off.

Available as a name-your-own-price download from the Festivitas website, this new app has already been embraced by users. Støvring reports that users have been paying anywhere from 4 - 30 Euro for the app, showing its popularity and value.
