On December 15, the Indiana football team signed Northern Illinois cornerback Amariyun Knighten. This defensive back brings 25 career games (14 starts) and two years of eligibility with him. He was highly sought after by several other Power Four schools, including some Big Ten rivals like Maryland, Michigan State, and Nebraska.
Also on December 15, the Hoosiers added a pair of specialists for 2025. Texas State kickoff specialist Brendan Franke and UCF punter Mitch McCarthy join the team. With the departure of longtime starter punter James Evans, who was a four-year starter at the school, these new additions provide much-needed depth.
On December 13, wide receiver E.J. Williams withdrew his name from the transfer portal. He had left the team in October with the intention of using his redshirt year and signing with another team. Williams, who began his career at Clemson, has amassed 772 career receiving yards in 45 games.
On December 14, Arizona safety Gunner Maldonado paid a visit, as reported by Rivals. This is an exciting prospect for the Indiana defense.
Also on December 14, Bowling Green offensive tackle Alex Wollschlaeger visited, as indicated by his X account. Such visits give the coaching staff a chance to assess potential additions.
On December 13, Western Kentucky defensive tackle Hosea Wheeler made a visit, according to his X account. And on the same day, Miami (OH) receiver Javon Tracy visited, as reported by On3. However, Tracy committed to Minnesota on December 15.
On December 15, UAB running back Lee Beebe Jr. was the first signee out of the transfer portal but has decided to reopen his recruitment, according to On3 Sports. The Hoosiers are likely looking to add multiple backs through the portal this cycle.
On December 11, Indiana running back Elijah Green entered the transfer portal. He was the first Hoosiers player during the winter cycle to do so. In 2024, he was the team's fourth-leading rusher with 201 yards (6.9 yards per carry) and five touchdowns.
On December 14, former Indiana football receiver Donaven McCulley stayed in the Big Ten and transferred to Michigan. After playing in four games this season following an early season injury and opting to redshirt, he was IU's leading receiver in 2023 with 48 passes for 644 yards and six touchdowns.
