Instagram Allows Users to Schedule Direct Messages Globally
2024-12-16
Instagram, the Meta-owned social network, has made a significant move by quietly introducing the capability for users to schedule their direct messages. This new feature is now being rolled out to all users worldwide. It holds great potential for various users, especially creators and brands. Creators can use it to schedule outreach messages at optimal times, while regular users can reach their friends across different time zones at a specific time. Additionally, it allows them to send reminders about certain things in the future.

Revolutionize Your Direct Messaging with Instagram's Scheduling Feature

How to Schedule a DM

To schedule a DM, simply start by typing out the message. Then, hold down the send button. After that, select a specific date and time when you want the message to be sent. According to our testing, Instagram enables you to schedule a message up to 29 days in advance. Once a message is scheduled, you will notice a banner that notifies you of having “1 scheduled message” every time you open the chat. This reminder stays until the DM is delivered.

Instagram's addition of this scheduling feature showcases its continuous efforts to enhance the messaging experience for its users. It provides a convenient way to manage and time your interactions, ensuring that your messages reach the intended recipients at the most appropriate moments.

Building out DMs for Creators and Regular Users

In the past few weeks, Instagram has been actively working on developing DMs and adding new capabilities. One notable addition is the ability for users to share their locations with friends via DMs, directly competing with services like Apple's Find My and Snapchat's Snap Map. This feature allows for more personalized and location-based interactions within direct messages.

Moreover, Instagram has started enabling users to customize names in DMs by adding nicknames for themselves or others. This adds a touch of individuality and makes the messaging experience more enjoyable. For creators, Instagram has further enhanced their messaging tools by allowing them to sort and filter message requests based on follower count, verified accounts, brands, creators, and other relevant factors. This helps creators manage their inbox more efficiently and focus on the most important messages.
