Building New Bonds at the JUCO Level

In October, West Virginia University picked up Hall, a talented shortstop. He had spent one season at the JUCO level before making this big move. Hall is from Victoria, BC, in Canada and is familiar with fellow Canadian and Mountaineer Sam White. Their shared background and love for the game brought them together.During that time at the JUCO, Hall would follow Sam's games and was impressed by the team's performance. This only strengthened his desire to be a part of such a successful program.

The Power of High School Travel Ball

Hall and White's relationship dates back to their high school days when they played travel ball together. In grade 11, they both joined the junior national team and played for two years, forming a strong bond. After those trips, White went to WVU while Hall took a gap year and continued to play for Team Canada. But their friendship remained strong.When White was done, Jorge Valdes joined the squad, and Hall found himself surrounded by more WVU players. This network of connections only made him more interested in the university.

Catching the Coach's Eye

Hall's athleticism caught the eye of the WVU coaching staff after an all-star game. Assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Jacob Garcia reached out to him. Despite having a lot of interest from other schools, WVU always held a special place in Hall's heart.He said, "It was amazing. After the all-star game, I had many schools reaching out, but WVU always stood out." This shows the impact his connections and the university's reputation had on him.

On the Field at WVU

Last season, Hall played in 50 games and made a significant impact. He batted at a.306 average with a.405 on-base percentage. He also slugged four home runs and had 31 RBIs. His performance demonstrated his determination and ability to contribute to the team.Hall said, "They should know that I'm coming to WVU to do anything I can to help the team win. As a person, I'm a very open, loving Canadian that's ready to bring the energy to the team." His attitude and work ethic are sure to be an asset to the West Virginia team.
