Unlock the World of High-Level Racing with Medallion
Early Days and Promising Beginnings
Medallion Racing, a part of Taylor Made, didn't start off on a smooth path. However, their commitment to providing partners with the thrill of high-level racing was unwavering. Out of over 250 starts, they had an impressive record, with Medallion racing five Grade I winners, winning 28 graded stakes, and achieving 72 top-three finishes in graded stakes. This demonstrated their ability to deliver on their promise. But there was one thing missing - a superstar. That all changed when they purchased an interest in Porta Fortuna (Ire) (Caravaggio) after her first start in 2023. This acquisition marked a turning point in their journey. The Rise of Porta Fortuna
Fast forward to 2024, and Porta Fortuna has become a force to be reckoned with. Despite an eighth-place showing in the GI Breeders’ Cup Mile, she has won four Group I races. Her list of stakes victories includes two at the Royal Ascot meet, in the G1 Coronation S. and the G3 Albany S.Taylor Made President and CEO Mark Taylor expressed his pride, saying, "It’s been great to own her and Porta Fortuna is the culmination of everything we have worked for since we started Medallion seven years ago. She’s the first horse we’ve had who has won multiple Grade I races and has gotten to the championship level."Trained by Donnacha O’Brien, Porta Fortuna is now taking a winter break before gearing up for her 4-year-old campaign. The first major goal is a return to Royal Ascot, and there's a possibility of a prep in the U.S. before the Breeders’ Cup.The Medallion Racing Model
Medallion Racing stands out with its unique model. Partners can buy into a horse for a one-time fee of $50,000. The goal is to find ready-made horses capable of winning group or graded stakes races immediately. When the syndicate buys a horse, the aim is to have it running in a stakes race within five weeks or less.Taylor emphasized, "Any time you start a new venture, you have a vision. We like to think Medallion racing is one of those special ventures. We want to create a racing partnership that ensures people get a taste of racing at the highest level at an affordable price."The Medallion stable is constantly evolving, with an average of about 12 ½ horses in each new class. The mares are sold at the November sales, and the money is reinvested in new acquisitions. The Potential for Greatness
A win by Porta Fortuna in the 2025 Breeders’ Cup Mile would be a dream come true. But even if she wins three Group I races in Europe in the next year, it will be a remarkable achievement. At just four years old and having raced only 12 times, winning six Group races, she seems to have a bright future ahead.Medallion Racing is not just about winning races; it's about creating unforgettable experiences for partners. With a dedicated team and a winning formula, they are set to continue making waves in the world of horse racing.
