In the opening weekend of 2025, the Michigan State Spartans' women's tennis team showcased their skills at the Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor. Two standout players, Amara Brahmbhatt and Hanna Tsitavets, represented MSU against formidable opponents from top-ranked universities such as Michigan, Ohio State, and Texas Tech. Over three days of intense competition, these Spartans demonstrated remarkable resilience and prowess on the court, with Brahmbhatt securing two impressive singles victories. Despite facing tough competition, both athletes left a lasting impression on the tournament.

The invitational commenced on Friday with Brahmbhatt and Tsitavets competing in singles matches. Brahmbhatt delivered an outstanding performance against Bayley Sheinin from Michigan, winning decisively 6-4, 6-2. Meanwhile, Tsitavets encountered Ava Bruno from Michigan but was unable to secure a win, losing 6-2, 6-2. Later that day, the duo paired up for a doubles match against Elena Daskalova and Arina Oreshchenkova from Texas Tech. Although they put up a valiant effort, victory eluded them.

Saturday saw the continuation of the tournament with more singles and doubles action. Brahmbhatt maintained her momentum by defeating Marta Komar from Eastern Michigan in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Tsitavets, despite her best efforts, could not replicate this success. In the doubles event, Brahmbhatt and Tsitavets faced off against the highly ranked Julia Fliegner and Reese Miller from Michigan. The Spartans managed to score points against the seasoned pair but ultimately lost 6-3.

The final day of competition brought another round of challenges. Brahmbhatt concluded her singles campaign with a strong showing against Emily Sartz-Lunde from Michigan. Although she did not emerge victorious, her performance was commendable. The tournament finale featured a doubles match between the Spartan duo and Nao Nishino and Sophia Cisse from Ohio State. This encounter was tightly contested, extending into extra points before Ohio State clinched the victory 7-6 (8-6).

As the Michigan Invitational drew to a close, the Spartans' performances highlighted their potential and determination. Brahmbhatt's consistent wins and Tsitavets' spirited efforts underscored the strength of the Michigan State women's tennis program. Looking ahead, the team is set to face Gonzaga and Washington State in Spokane, Washington, followed by a home opener against Xavier.
