In his freshman campaign, he hit.298 with a.367 OBP in 131 at-bats, showing promise but lacking significant power. However, last season saw an improvement as he slugged.473 with nine homers and eight doubles. Half of his hits were extra-base hits, indicating his potential. Despite a slight drop in OBP and average, his sophomore season was still an improvement. He will need to address his increased strikeout rate to reach his full potential. There is a hope that Furniss can have a year three surge similar to Kemp Alderman and become a premier slugger in the SEC. He has the talent and potential to do so.Defensively, Furniss was excellent last season. He made some outstanding plays and had only one error. While he initially played mostly as a designated hitter, he started playing more at first base in the second half of the season. His presence in the opening day lineup at the cleanup spot is a certainty, and he will be a key part of the team's success in 2025.
