Unraveling the Success Story of Aaron Mason in Horse Racing
Early Influences and Childhood Memories
Aaron's earliest recollections of horses and harness racing date back to his early childhood. Sitting in the jog cart with his father and sister at the age of 5, he felt the rush of being around these magnificent animals. It was clear even then that he was destined for a life in harness racing. His parents' involvement in the sport provided him with countless lessons and valuable advice. Whether it was their sharing of helpful tips or simply observing their actions, Aaron always took something away from each day in the barn. The importance of work ethic and a positive attitude was ingrained in him from a young age.As he grew older, his love for the sport only deepened. He started training his first horse at the age of 12, laying the foundation for his future in horse racing.
The Milestone Moments
In 2023, Aaron reached a significant milestone. On July 15th, he sent out his first starter, B Special, a pacing mare he owned, at Miami, a half-mile oval in his home province. With his father driving, B Special finished fourth in a time of 2:03.1. This was just the beginning.Then, on September 16th at The Loop, a half-mile track in Winnipeg with a population of 849,000, Darryl guided B Special to a quarter-length score in 2:01.3. That day was truly special for Aaron. Getting his first training win was a moment to cherish, but having it be a family affair made it even more memorable.
Expanding Horizons
B Special's success inspired Aaron to add another facet to his racing career. He wrote his driver's test this summer and started his drives. Although the racing season in Manitoba is short, he is determined to complete his drives in the spring and obtain his license.In the meantime, he focuses on training and advancing his horse racing education while working full-time at a Heavy-Duty equipment company in his hometown. He has three horses, each teaching him something unique and helping him grow as a trainer.
Future Plans and Aspirations
Aaron is plotting a methodical career path for himself. He dreams of finding a horse to compete in the big races and taking one of his family's young colts and developing it into a racing star. He initially aims to train 10 horses, a number he has successfully managed with his family.He is also taking his driving skills seriously, aiming to get his license and work his way up gradually. His dedication to all things racing is unwavering, and he follows a strict schedule to ensure the well-being of his horses.
Balancing Life and Racing
Despite his busy schedule, Aaron finds time to enjoy the sport he loves. In the winter, when he isn't at work or the barn, he can be found at the local hockey arena, playing hockey with his friends.This balance between his racing career and his other interests shows his well-rounded nature and determination to succeed in all aspects of his life.
