Entering the TSSAA playoffs last season, Houston Hebert was in outstanding form at the plate. He was hitting an impressive.395 with nine home runs, 44 RBIs, 10 doubles, and an astonishing.882 slugging percentage. His batting skills were truly remarkable and set the stage for his future in college baseball.During that time, he demonstrated exceptional consistency and power at the plate, making him a force to be reckoned with. His ability to connect with the ball and drive it with such force was a sight to behold.

The Austin Peay Program and Its Strengths

Next fall, Houston Hebert will join the Austin Peay program, which boasted one of the best offenses in college baseball last spring. The Governors ranked first in team batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage. They also ranked third in doubles, hits, home runs, and runs scored. This shows the high level of offensive prowess within the program.Being a part of such a successful program will provide Houston with numerous opportunities for growth and development. Recovery from Tommy John Surgery

In the summer of 2023, Houston tore his UCL in his right elbow and underwent Tommy John surgery. This was a significant setback, but he showed great determination and perseverance. After a rigorous physical therapy and rehab process, he was cleared to start swinging a bat two months before his junior season.His family played a crucial role in his recovery. His mom and dad provided unwavering support, ensuring that he followed his rehabilitation plan and got to where he needed to be. Their hard work and dedication paid off, and he was able to play pain-free in every facet of the game except pitching.

Two-Way Player and Future Goals

As a two-way player, Houston Hebert will bring a unique skill set to the Austin Peay team. He began pitching in the summer of 2023 with Clarksville-based TBC-Shelton and threw four shutout innings at the Prep Baseball Report 16U National Championship.Entering his final season of high school baseball, one of his goals is to break the Hawks’ program single-season home run record. Last year he had nine home runs, and the record is 10. This goal is driving him to work even harder and strive for excellence.He is determined to make a mark in both aspects of the game - hitting and pitching. With his talent and determination, he is well on his way to achieving his dreams.
