Saturday's Works: Mystik Dan & Full Serrano Among 28 Graded Winners
2024-11-30
Kentucky Derby winner Mystik Dan has been maintaining his regular Saturday breeze schedule. Unraced since his eighth-place finish in the Belmont, he has been frequently seen on the work tab since late October. On Saturday at Fair Grounds, he worked five furlongs in 1:01.0, coming in third fastest among 36 horses over the course and distance. This was his longest drill since returning to serious training. According to trainer Kenny McPeek, the Grade 1 Malibu on Dec. 26 at Santa Anita is a potential return race for him.
Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile Winner Full Serrano
Full Serrano, the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile winner, also worked on Saturday. This was his second drill since his Grade 1 victory at Del Mar. At Santa Anita, he covered five furlongs in 1:01.2, ranking ninth fastest among 28 horses over that course and distance. The 5-year-old horse has been in excellent form during his three starts in the United States for trainer John Sadler in 2024. He won an allowance-optional claiming race at Del Mar in August, followed by a second-place finish in the Grade 1 Pacific Classic, and then achieved the top level at the Breeders’ Cup.
