Shocker Women's Tennis: Fall Rankings for Trio of Players

The Shockers have made significant strides in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. On December 3rd, a trio of players achieved remarkable feats. Wichita State sophomore Xin Tong Wang found herself ranked No. 61 in the singles top 125, while Theodora Chantava and Giorgia Roselli were ranked No. 91 in the doubles poll. Head Coach Colin Foster is elated to see the team's hard work recognized. He stated, "I'm super proud of not just these three girls, but the whole team for pushing hard in practice and competing hard in every match this fall. They made each other stronger and now we can continue pushing to accomplish team goals that we have set for this season."
Wang's Singular Achievement
Wang's fall season was nothing short of exceptional. She went 9-3 in singles, ending with a debut at the NCAA Singles Championships in Waco, Texas. This marked a significant milestone as she became the first Shocker to play in the region title match since 1983. Her performance showcases her talent and determination on the court.In the doubles aspect, Chantava and Roselli's fall was highlighted by collecting two wins at the AAC Individual Championships in October. They pushed the top seed in the tournament to a super tiebreaker in the doubles semifinal round, demonstrating their tenacity and skill.The Shockers are now looking forward to continuing to add to their history when the spring season begins in January. With these recent rankings and achievements, the team is poised for more success in the coming months.
