Following an eventful week of competition, the Southern Connecticut women's basketball team has solidified its position in both national and regional rankings. The Owls secured a 25th place spot in the D2CSC Women's Basketball National Poll and maintained their third-place standing in the East Region Top 10 for the ninth consecutive week. This achievement underscores the team's consistent performance and growing recognition in collegiate sports.

The team faced a mixed outcome over the past week, with a notable victory against local rivals, the University of New Haven, and a narrow loss to Franklin Pierce. In their triumphant match against New Haven, standout performances included Hope Fox, who achieved a career-high 29 points, showcasing exceptional free-throw accuracy. Delaney Haines also contributed significantly with 13 points, while Rheyna Steinauer added 11 points and Katie Williamson recorded her second double-double of the season. Against Franklin Pierce, Jillian Martin and Hope Fox led the scoring with 11 points each, demonstrating resilience despite the challenging defeat.

The Owls' impressive statistical achievements extend beyond individual games. They rank sixth in Division II for assists per game and seventh for free-throw percentage. Within the NE10 conference, Southern Connecticut leads in offensive scoring, averaging 71.3 points per game, and excels in free-throw shooting and assists. Key players like Katie Williamson and Delaney Haines are among the top scorers in the NE10, with Williamson also leading in free-throw percentage and Haines in three-point field-goal percentage.

Looking ahead, the Owls will face Adelphi on Wednesday evening at Moore Field House before traveling to Waltham, Massachusetts, for a crucial matchup against Bentley University on Saturday.
