Uncover the Passion and Determination of Rock Springs High School Tigers

Sam Eddy's Football Journey

Meet Sam Eddy, a 17-year-old senior at Rock Springs High School. He is part of the Health Occupations Academy. Growing up in a family with a sports-loving tradition, it was almost a given that Sam would participate in at least one sport. From third to fourth grade, he tried out various sports like football, basketball, baseball, and lacrosse. Football held a special place as it was the main sport in the family. His dad was a football coach, and his older brother was playing in junior high at that time. Sam was determined to follow in his brother's footsteps and developed a deep passion for football. Recently, he committed to playing college football at Minot State University in North Dakota next year. His hard work and dedication have paid off, and he is proud of where he is today. Sam looks up to his older brother Jake, who is known for his unwavering work ethic. Jake's ability to overcome injuries and bounce back inspired Sam, and he constantly pushes Sam to be his best. Jake is always there to cheer him on.

Sam had an excellent few years in high school, giving his all on the football field. His journey is a testament to his determination and love for the game.

Basketball Adventures at Rock Springs High School

In third grade, Sam started playing basketball but didn't enjoy it at first. He told his mom after the little league season ended that he never wanted to play again. However, a few years later, he found himself at a basketball meeting during the day. After the meeting, Mr. Doore approached him and asked if he would play. Sam decided to give it another try and made the B team. He was overjoyed as he thought he would be cut. By the end of the year, he was moved up to the A team for an important tournament. The following year, as an eighth-grader, he made the A team and played the entire season there.

During his freshman year, Sam was a small but determined player. The large number of kids trying out made him nervous, but he still made the team. The freshman coach, Braxton Rosette, played a crucial role in his development. Sam was hot-headed as a freshman, but the coach helped him control his emotions and improve his skills. His growth on the basketball court was remarkable.

Sophomore Year Highlights

In his sophomore year, Sam started to shine. He split his time between the JV and sophomore squads. It was a memorable year as he achieved a significant milestone - his first dunk in a game. The feeling was indescribable, and it boosted his confidence.

His junior season was a mix of highs and lows. He played varsity, got a few more dunks, and became a solid defensive player. Although they were knocked out in the regional tournament, Sam knew that he and his teammates had another year to prove themselves.

Looking Ahead to This Year

This year, the team is gearing up for success. They have a strong starting five and a group of reliable players coming off the bench. All of them are determined to make their mark and add another chapter to the school's history. With a new head coach, Lennon Spence, who believes in them, and their own belief in him, they are ready to take on the challenges. The coaches are providing them with the tools they need to succeed, and if they use them wisely, they will achieve their goals.

Outside of sports, Sam enjoys spending time with friends and family. He loves fishing and camping, and during good weather, he and his friends go on weekend camping trips. These activities add to the richness of his life.

Finally, Sam wants to express his gratitude to everyone who has supported him along the way. Without the positive influence of his coaches and his family, he wouldn't be where he is today. He is excited about the next chapter of his life and playing college football, but first, it's time to represent Rock Springs one more time on the basketball court. GO TIGERS #TTID
