2025-01-21

The UT Arlington women’s tennis team, under the leadership of seasoned coach Diego Benitez, is set to embark on an exciting 2025 spring season. With a strong foundation from last year's impressive performance, the Mavericks are ready to build on their success. The team will return three experienced players and welcome three fresh faces, adding depth and versatility to their roster. The season kicks off with two matches in Houston, facing Portland and the Cougars of Houston on January 25 and 26 respectively. This early challenge will test the team's readiness and set the tone for the rest of the season.

The Mavericks will then alternate between home and away games, showcasing their skills both locally and across Texas. A notable highlight includes their first conference match against Grand Canyon on February 9, which will be played at home. The team will also travel to Wichita, Kansas, for back-to-back matches against Memphis and Wichita State in late February. As the season progresses, the Mavs will prepare for the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Tournament, scheduled for April 17-19 in Arlington, where they aim to secure a top position and defend their standing as one of the leading teams in the conference.

The upcoming season promises thrilling matches and opportunities for growth. With a balanced mix of returning talent and new additions, the Mavericks are poised to make significant strides. The dedication and experience of Coach Benitez, along with the team's resilience and determination, underscore a positive outlook for the future. Fans can look forward to an engaging and competitive season as the Mavericks strive for excellence both on and off the court.
