Western Carolina Women's Tennis Reveals 2025 Spring Schedule

Western Carolina women's tennis is all set to make a mark in 2025 after an extraordinary 2024 spring campaign. Head coach Bret Beaver has now released the squad's schedule, promising an exciting season ahead. The 22-match regular season will witness the Catamounts hosting 10 home matches at the Catamount Athletic Complex, traveling to eight road matches, and competing in four neutral site battles before the SoCon Championship.
First Matches and Feline Foes
The season kicks off on Jan. 20 with a road matchup against the Auburn Tigers. This is the first time these feline foes will share the courts. Auburn was the only NCAA tournament team from a year ago to advance to the second round, having posted a 4-0 win over BYU in the opening round.The Catamounts then face four repeat opponents from 2024 in consecutive matches. They host Young Harris on Jan. 25 for the home opener and then head to face Davidson on Feb. 1. After that, they come back to Cullowhee for three in a row, hosting Tusculum and App State on Feb. 3 and 8 respectively. The Presbyterian Blue Hose makes the trek up the mountain on Feb. 9, marking the second time in three years that this Big South opponent has played at the Catamount Athletic Complex.South Carolina and Wake Forest
On Feb. 15, the Catamounts head to Columbia, S.C. for a doubleheader. They will face the South Carolina Gamecocks for the first time in program history and have a neutral site matchup with Wake Forest. This is the second season in a row that they will face the Demon Deacons.Home and Road Trips
The Purple and Gold return home on Feb. 22 to host Gardner-Webb. Then, they hit the road for three straight matches. They open SoCon play at Furman on Feb. 25, head to Asheville to face another NCAA tournament team in UNC Asheville, and venture into Georgia for the first of two trips this season to share the courts with Kennesaw State on March 2.Neutral Site Tournament
During the University's spring break, the Catamounts participate in a neutral site tournament. They are set to face FDU on March 10 to open the three-match neutral site run in Orlando, Fla. They then face Lamar on March 12 and a fifth NCAA tournament opponent in the Fairfield Stags to close out neutral site action on March 13.Final Home and Road Matches
Western Carolina returns home for four straight on the courts at the Catamount Athletic Complex. They start with a final non-conference matchup with NC A&T on March 21. Samford visits on March 23 before stringing back-to-back matches against UNCG and Chattanooga on March 29 and March 30 respectively.In April, they have a road match at Mercer on April 5. Then, they close out the home schedule with the ETSU Bucs – the final NCAA tournament opponent on the docket – on April 8. The regular season concludes on April 12 in Spartanburg as the Purple and Gold face the Wofford Terriers.
