Strong Start and Rankings

This strong start has propelled the program's class to a notable position. Currently, Wisconsin slots at No. 9 in 247Sports' team transfer portal class rankings. They find themselves behind only the likes of No. 1 Ole Miss (nine commits, five four-stars), No. 2 LSU (nine commits, five four-stars), No. 3 Texas Tech (11 commits, four four-stars), No. 4 Auburn (eight commits, four four-stars), No. 5 Texas A&M (five commits, three four-stars), No. 6 Mississippi State (eight commits, one four-star), No. 7 Houston (11 commits, one four-star), and No. 8 Minnesota (10 commits, zero four-stars) at this early stage.

Offseason Roster Needs

Entering the offseason, the Badgers had significant roster needs. Some of these needs were exacerbated by the departure of transfer players. The key areas of concern were quarterback, defensive line, edge rusher, tight end, linebacker, and safety. The Badgers have shown remarkable prowess in addressing these positions. They have secured a starting quarterback in Billy Edwards Jr., a backup quarterback in Danny O’Neil, a star tight end in Tanner Koziol, several defensive linemen including Parker Petersen, Corey Walker, and Charles Perkins, an edge rusher in Mason Reiger, and a starting safety in Matthew Traynor. These players are among the best available, with Edwards Jr. and Koziol standing out.

Remaining Work

Despite their impressive progress, the Badgers still have work to do. The most notable areas that require attention are wide receiver and linebacker. However, as of December 18, the program appears to be taking strong steps forward as they enter a pivotal 2025 season. Finishing within the top 10 of the national transfer class rankings could be a strong indicator of success to come.Contact/Follow @TheBadgersWire on X (formerly Twitter), and like our page on Facebook to stay updated on Wisconsin Badgers news, notes, and opinion.
