Unlock the Potential of Wisconsin Football's Offseason Transfers

Quarterback Danny O’Neil: A Promising Addition

Danny O’Neil, hailing from San Diego State, brings a wealth of experience and potential to the Wisconsin Badgers. As a freshman, he threw for over 2,000 yards, completing 209 of 330 passes at a remarkable 63.3% rate. He amassed 2,181 yards, 12 touchdowns, and six interceptions. This season, he was one of only two true freshmen FBS quarterbacks to start the season opener, alongside Nebraska's Dylan Raiola. In fact, he was the first true freshman to start in San Diego State's Division I era, which dates back to 1969. The Aztecs had a challenging 3-9 season with a 2-5 record in the Mountain West. However, O’Neil was recognized with two freshman of the week honors in the conference. One of his standout performances was a three-game stretch against Central Michigan, Hawaii, and Wyoming. During this period, he completed 65% of his passes (54 of 83) for 724 yards, four touchdowns, and only one interception. This equated to a remarkable 151.8 pass efficiency rating. The victories over Hawaii and Wyoming were San Diego State's only conference wins of the season, highlighting O’Neil's crucial role.

Defensive Lineman Corey Walker: A Force to Be Reckoned With

Corey Walker, standing at 6-5 and weighing 270 pounds, played at Western Michigan and made his mark against Wisconsin in Camp Randall Stadium earlier this season. He finished the season with an impressive 38 tackles, including 6 ½ tackles for a loss and 5½ sacks. He also had five pass breakups. In the 28-14 loss to the Badgers on August 28, he contributed three tackles. Walker has one year of eligibility remaining and has already generated interest from other programs. Since announcing his plan to transfer on X, he has received offers from Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech. His performance on the defensive line has the potential to significantly enhance Wisconsin's defensive capabilities.
