Witness the Battle for Glory at Woodbine's Valedictory Stakes

Stanley House: A Journey of Tough Luck and Potential

Stanley House, a son of Army Mule out of the Unbridled's song mare Stormy's Song, is a 4-year-old with an impressive record. Trained by Mike De Paulo for John and Diana Russell, he has reached the podium in all six starts this year, going 1-3-2. In his latest engagement, the Autumn Stakes (G2) on Nov. 16, he finished third, just 2 3/4 lengths behind the winner. Despite facing tough luck throughout his career, he always gives his best and has that energetic finish. He debuted in November 2022 and has had many notable performances, including breaking his maiden at Gulfstream in March 2023 and finishing third in The King's Plate in July. De Paulo is aiming for Stanley House to get that first stakes win to close out the year.

Collective Force: A Fall Contender with a Grumpy Side

Collective Force, a 6-year-old homebred for Chiefswood Stables, is a son of Tiznow out of the Bernardini mare Finn's Girl. He finished second in last year's Valedictory and is coming off a five-length romp at 1 1/8 miles over the Woodbine main track on Oct. 6. Trainer Rachel Halden believes he comes round in the fall and has run his best races in the late fall. He has a solid track record with 24: 2-4-4 and $250,311 in purse earnings. After a slow start with a ninth-place finish on his debut in June 2021, he rebounded with two seconds in his next two starts and broke his maiden in August 2021. In preparation for Saturday's race, he breezed four furlongs in 48.80 seconds on the dirt training track on Nov. 30. Halden hopes this will be his time to shine.

Other Contenders: Roscar and More

Roscar, a 3-year-old son of Oscar Performance out of the Court Vision mare Rosemere, is also in the race. He won the Breeders' Stakes in September and has had a mixed-up year. He heads into the Valedictory off a pair of thirds, including the Ontario Derby (G3) on Oct. 19. Another notable contender is Loose Wire, a horse trained by Kevin Attard and ridden by Rafael Manuel Hernandez. He won his last race on Oct. 27 and is now entered in the Valedictory. There are several other horses with promising potential, each with their own stories and chances. The Grade 3 Valedictory Stakes at Woodbine is shaping up to be a highly competitive race, with these 11 starters ready to give it their all. It will be a battle to remember as they compete for the top prize on the track.
