A tragic incident unfolded in Istanbul, where a 14-year-old boy, son of a renowned chef, is now battling for his life following a brutal knife attack. The assault occurred while the teenager was out shopping with friends at Kadikoy market, looking for skateboarding equipment. Surveillance footage captured the harrowing moment as an older teen approached the victim, brandishing a large knife and shouting aggressively before repeatedly stabbing him. As the first attacker fled, another individual arrived on the scene, kicking the injured youth who lay helpless on the ground.
The young victim, Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, suffered multiple stab wounds, including injuries to vital organs such as his heart, lungs, and kidneys. Fortunately, a bystander who happened to be a female doctor performed CPR and administered first aid, keeping Mattia alive until emergency services arrived and rushed him to Goztepe City Hospital. Turkish authorities have since apprehended two suspects—a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old—both of whom reportedly have prior criminal records.
Mattia's parents, celebrated figures in their respective fields—an Italian chef and a classical cellist—are devastated by the incident. His father expressed deep sorrow on social media, recounting how Mattia had asked for permission to go out that morning to purchase items from the flea market, which sells out quickly. Despite the severity of Mattia's condition, there remains hope as he receives expert medical care. This event underscores the importance of community vigilance and support during times of crisis, reminding us all to look out for one another in our neighborhoods.
