Last fall, alumnus Ross Sprovieri and his wife Susan made a $1 million gift, which established endowed scholarships for both the men's and women's tennis programs. President Kimo Ah Yun announced that the Sprovieris have now committed an additional $3 million. Opening of the Wellness + Helfaer Recreation Facility

Located on the southwestern end of campus on the corner of 16th and Clybourn streets, the Wellness + Helfaer Recreation facility is set to open its doors on Monday, Jan. 13. This state-of-the-art facility will bring together three key student-centric areas: fitness and recreation, medical services, and mental health services.For the tennis programs, the new facility will provide a dedicated space for training, competition, and team activities. It will offer modern amenities and equipment, allowing the student-athletes to reach their full potential. The opening of this facility is a significant milestone for Marquette University and its tennis programs, marking a new era of growth and success.

Jud Shaufler, the director of tennis at Marquette, has been with the university for 15 years. Under his leadership, the tennis programs have achieved great success and have become a prominent part of the Big East Conference.
