Photo: Adam Coglianese / NYRA. In the world of horse racing, two remarkable New York-breds are set to shine. Sacrosanct, with his 3-for-3 record and two stakes wins, is gearing up for the biggest prize yet - the $500,000 Great White Way division of the New York Stallion Stakes Series. Meanwhile, Stone Smuggler, a stakes-winner, aims to bounce back from a third-place finish in the state-bred Key Cents.

About Sacrosanct

Trained by dual Eclipse Award-winner Brad Cox for Lady Sheila Stable, Net Birdie and Schwing Thoroughbreds, Sacrosanct is a New York-bred Honest Mischief bay. In his two previous starts at seven furlongs, he showed exceptional dominance. Back on September 22 in the local state-bred Bertram F. Bongard, he led narrowly early under Manny Franco and extended to a 6 3/4-length advantage at the stretch call, winning by 12 widening lengths and earning a career-best 85 Beyer Speed Figure. Then, in the state-bred Sleepy Hollow on October 27, he was a prominent 1 1/2-length victor over graded stakes-winner and Grade 1-placed Mo Plex. Cox believes Sacrosanct can handle the cutback from one mile to seven-eighths and is looking forward to seeing how he performs. Sacrosanct also showed his talent in his August 21 debut at Saratoga, where he bested state-breds sprinting six-furlongs. Bred in the Empire State by Burleson Farms, Mckenzie Bloodstock and Sequel Thoroughbreds, out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Vibrato, he was a $260,000 purchase at the 2024 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-olds in training sale. His second dam is dual stakes-winner Cuff Me.

Another Race for Sacrosanct

Sacrosanct is set to compete in the $500,000 Great White Way division, where he will face tough competition. His training and performance leading up to this race have been promising, and he is expected to give a great show. The purse of $500,000 is an added incentive for him to perform well.

About Stone Smuggler

Owned by NY Final Furlong Racing Stable and SunsetRidge Racing Stable, Stone Smuggler is a daughter of Honest Mischief. In her last race on November 17 at Aqueduct Racetrack, she was a half-length back through the early stages under Irad Ortiz, Jr. and took a head advantage at the top of the lane but couldn't hold off the late charge of With the Angels and Nina Kay, finishing 2 1/2 lengths back of the winner. She earned a field-best 74 Beyer. In her previous start two starts back on September 23 at Finger Lakes Racetrack, she graduated in the state-bred Lady Finger, with Mischief Lady and Idyll Gossip finishing second and third respectively. Abreu, her trainer, hopes to see her take the early lead again as it would give her a good chance. She worked over the Belmont Park dirt training track on Saturday, covering five furlongs in 1:02 flat. Bred in New York by Eaton and Thorne, out of the Bustin Stones mare Bustinattheseams, she was a $57,000 purchase at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Preferred New York-bred yearling sale.
