Tennis Coaching Beginnings at Ysleta Junior High

In 1990, Mike Bezemek embarked on his local tennis coaching career at Ysleta Junior High. At that time, there was no middle school tennis program in El Paso at all. He saw an opportunity to give everyday regular kids the chance to play tennis at an earlier age. By starting this program, he was breaking barriers and opening doors for those who might otherwise have been overlooked.This initiative was a testament to his belief that tennis should be accessible to all, regardless of one's socio-economic background. It showed his dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of young tennis players.

Kicking Off a Middle School Tennis Program

Despite the lack of a middle school tennis tradition in El Paso, Bezemek took it upon himself to create one. His vision was to provide a platform for young athletes to develop their skills and love for the game. Through his hard work and determination, the Ysleta Junior High middle school tennis program became a reality.This program not only gave students a chance to play tennis but also instilled in them values such as discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. Free Tennis Lessons for Underprivileged Children

From 1993 to 1995, Bezemek worked at Vista Hills Country Club, where he dedicated his time to giving free tennis lessons to underprivileged children. This act of kindness was a reflection of his compassionate nature and his desire to give back to the community.By providing these lessons, he was helping to level the playing field in tennis. He believed that every child should have the opportunity to learn and enjoy the game, regardless of their financial situation. Building a Tennis Program at Bel Air High School

From 1996 to 2000, Bezemek took his coaching skills to Bel Air High School and gave life to another tennis program. During this time, he continued to make a difference in the lives of students, helping them develop their tennis skills and grow as individuals.His leadership and expertise at Bel Air High School laid the foundation for the success he would achieve at Socorro High School. His reputation as a dedicated and effective coach preceded him.

Thriving at Socorro High School

Since 2000, Bezemek has found his home at Socorro High School. Here, he is not only the head coach but also oversees the middle school program that he started. Over the past 24 years as the Bulldog head coach, he has mentored 21 student-athletes who have gone on to play at the collegiate level.His impact on these students has been immeasurable. He has taught them not only how to play tennis but also how to be successful in life. His students have gone on to achieve great things, and they all credit him with their success.Bezemek's dedication to his coaching and his players is truly inspiring.
