Foster Unveils 2025 Women's Tennis Schedule for Spring
2024-12-11
Wichita, Kan. - Wichita State head women’s tennis coach Colin Foster recently announced his squad’s 2025 dual match slate. This year promises to be another tough one for the Black and Yellow, but Foster is confident his team is ready to take on the challenge. “This schedule is designed to test us,” said Foster. “We play for the challenge, and this schedule offers the right balance of opponents to help us grow and have ranking opportunities.”
Regular Season Opponents and Challenges
The Shockers are set to face 20 opponents in the regular season, with seven of them being power four opponents. In the American Athletic Conference, teams don't follow a set dual match schedule, but the Shockers will still face six of the possible 13 conference opponents. Of the 20 Shocker opponents, eight were ranked in the final ITA top 75 poll of last season on June 10. These opponents include Oklahoma, Kansas, Memphis, Iowa, Princeton, South Florida, SMU, and Kansas State.Coach Foster believes that all eight of his players will show improvement in ability compared to last season. “Our staff expects everyone to make leaps in their abilities,” said Foster. “Everyone on this team has made significant progress this fall, and they all have the chance to take that next step. The environment and culture they created and embraced this fall have set the stage for growth and development.”Foster anticipates a deep team with contributions coming from throughout the lineup in dual matches. “Everyone on this team is a valuable contributor,” said Foster. “We won't have to rely on a few players to score. I think we'll have a team that, no matter who is in each position, will be confident, capable, and give us a chance to earn points.”Postseason Aspirations
After collecting their first win at the AAC Championship last year since 2019, Foster and his team have set their sights on a conference championship this year. “Our goal as a team this year is to compete for a conference championship,” said Foster. “We have all the pieces in place to have a truly special year and a postseason run that makes a significant impact.”Upcoming Matches and Details
