Eoin Harty's Rising Stars: Poster and First Resort

Trainer Eoin Harty's duo, Poster and First Resort, have been drawing attention with their impressive performances. Both horses have shown remarkable progress in recent weeks, highlighting their potential for future races. Poster, a Godolphin homebred, has demonstrated consistent improvement since his debut at Ellis Park. His latest workout at Turfway Park, while not the fastest, indicates he is steadily preparing for his next challenge. Meanwhile, First Resort, another promising colt under Harty's guidance, has been turning heads with his speed and agility.

Poster, a three-year-old by Munnings, has already claimed victory in three consecutive races, including the Grade 2 Remsen Stakes. After winning the Remsen by a narrow margin, Poster breezed three furlongs in 38.6 seconds at Turfway Park. Although this was the slowest among three horses at the distance, it reflects a measured approach to training. Trainer Harty remains undecided about Poster's next start but is considering a Derby points prep race at Aqueduct. On the other hand, First Resort, a son of Uncle Mo, has emerged as a formidable competitor. He won the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club and recently clocked four furlongs in 49.6 seconds at Turfway Park, the third-fastest time among 16 works at that distance. This performance underscores his readiness for future engagements.

Other Graded-Stakes Winners Make Their Mark

Beyond Harty's stable, several other graded-stakes winners have also been making waves with their workouts. These horses represent diverse backgrounds and trainers, yet each one brings unique strengths to the racing world. From Instant Coffee's strategic training to Kopion's exceptional speed, these athletes are setting the stage for thrilling races ahead. Instant Coffee, trained by Chad Summers, worked five furlongs in 1:01.5 at Belmont Park, placing eighth out of 25 horses at the distance. This was his first workout since finishing third in an allowance race at Aqueduct. Another standout, Background, a Grade 3 winner, logged four furlongs in 52.2 seconds at Louisiana Downs, the 20th fastest of 22 works. Trained by Steve Asmussen, Background placed third in his last race at Churchill Downs. Evening Sun, a Grade 3 winner, turned in the fastest time of nine works at Santa Anita, covering four furlongs in 46.2 seconds. Trainer Jeff Mullins' charge had previously finished seventh in a claiming race at Del Mar. Additionally, Gray's Fable, a Grade 3 winner, clocked the second-fastest time of 24 works at Fair Grounds, running four furlongs in 48.6 seconds. Maltese Falcon, another Grade 3 winner, posted a respectable 49.6 seconds over four furlongs at Santa Anita. Meanwhile, Midnight Mammoth, who won the Grade 3 Cougar II, ran four furlongs in 48.6 seconds, the sixth-fastest of 24 works. Finally, Scalable, a Grade 3 winner, completed four furlongs in 51.0 seconds at Belmont Park, her first workout since the Comely Stakes. Each of these horses is diligently preparing for their next big moment on the track.
