Transforming Warren Central's Football Legacy

New Coach's Background

J.T. Whitaker, the offensive coordinator for Brownsburg's Class 6A state championship team, has been officially appointed as the new Warren Central coach. With his expertise and leadership, he aims to build on the program's rich history. Since 2018, he has been an integral part of Brownsburg's offensive success. The Bulldogs under his guidance have averaged an impressive 386 yards of total offensive per game, with three players rushing over 600 yards and sophomores leading in passing and receiving. Oscar Frye had 2,445 passing yards and 23 touchdowns, while Branden Sharpe pulled in 66 receptions for 1,165 yards and seven touchdowns.Whitaker's coaching journey includes working with John Hart at Warren Central, Jayson West at Lawrence Central, and Mike Kirschner at Ben Davis. Hart emphasizes Whitaker's role in building a state championship culture at Brownsburg. "J.T. has been an instrumental part of us building a state championship culture at Brownsburg," Hart said. "He is an elite play caller, but his best attribute is his relationship with the players. Kids love him and the Brownsburg family loves him."

Transition and Expectations

Whitaker steps into a program that finished 10-2 last season under coach Mike Kirschner. Kirschner stepped down after the season but retained his athletic director post. Warren Central is one of the most tradition-rich programs in the state, with nine state championships overall, most recently in 2018 in Class 6A. Whitaker is ready to carry forward this legacy and lead the Warriors to new heights. His coaching style and strategies are expected to bring a fresh perspective and drive the team to greater success. The school community is excited about the future under Whitaker's leadership and looks forward to seeing the team perform on the field.
