Unveiling Longwood Baseball's Intense Season Schedule

Opening with a Home-Heavy Schedule

The Lancers kick off their season with a home-heavy schedule, as 12 of their first 13 games will take place at Buddy Bolding Stadium. This provides a great opportunity for the team to build momentum and gain confidence in front of their home crowd. However, it's not all smooth sailing at home, as they will face tough opponents and need to perform at their best. The longest road swing for the team is five straight games, which will test their resilience and ability to adapt on the road. In early March, the Lancers will play 11 of 13 games away from home, which will be a challenging test for them.During this home-heavy stretch, the Lancers will open the year with a three-game set against the defending Horizon League regular season champs in Wright State from Friday to Sunday, February 14-16. This will be a tough test for the team as they face a strong opponent right from the start. After that, they will continue a long-running series against VCU with a midweek matchup against the reigning A10 champions on Tuesday, February 18. The team will return the favor in March on the 25th.

Hosting Penn State and Other Rivals

The Lancers then host Penn State for a four-game series the following weekend, February 21-23. This will be a significant event as it marks the first meeting between the two sides. The Lancers will be looking to make a strong impression and showcase their skills against a highly regarded opponent. A road trip to Charlotte gives the squad its first road test of the year in a midweek game on February 25. This will be a chance for the team to prove themselves on the road and gain valuable experience. After that, the Lancers return home to close February and open March against Albany for a four-game series.During Spring Break, the Lancers head to Washington D.C. to take on Towson, George Mason, and a Georgetown team that advanced to the Big East Championship game last season. This will be a tough DMV matchup as the Lancers will face three strong opponents over a three-day span from March 7-9. It will be a great test for the team and an opportunity to measure their progress.

Midweek Trips and Big South Play

Midweek trips to William & Mary (April 15), Elon (April 30), and UNCG (May 13) round out the rest of the midweek road trips. These trips will provide the team with more opportunities to gain experience and test themselves against different opponents. Longwood also hosts ETSU from March 14-16 in their final non-conference series prior to running into Big South play. This will be a crucial series for the team as they look to build momentum before entering conference play.Conference play begins with a road trip to UNC Asheville on Friday, March 21. The team will then travel to Asheville (March 21-23), Presbyterian (April 4-6), Charleston Southern (April 17-19), and USC Upstate (May 2-4) during the spring.
