The Bears duo took on the Longhorns on their home courts at the Hurd Tennis Center during the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Individual Championships. They started strongly, coming back from being down 5-4 in the first set to force a tiebreaker. The fans and staff support around them fueled their victory in the first set, 7-6(7). However, the Longhorns responded in the second set, taking the lead 6-4 after Baylor had held the score tied for most of the set. In the third set tiebreaker, Baylor fell quickly 4-1 but fought back to stay in the match at 4-4. In the Round of 32, the 5-8 seed duo of Devin Badenhorst and Zsombor Velcz faced an upset from UCLA's Aadarsh Tripathi and Alexander Hoogmartens, losing 6-3, 7-6(3).Singles Matches
In singles, Devin Badenhorst couldn't hold on against Wake Forest's 9-16 seed Dhakshineswar Suresh, losing 6-4, 6-2. To open the tournament in the Round of 64, Badenhorst defeated Martin Borisiouk of NC State 6-4, 7-6(7) to advance. Oskar Brostrom Poulsen battled against Top Nidunjianzan of Princeton but couldn't secure a victory, losing 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.The NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships will continue through Sunday at the Hurd Tennis Center until four new national champions are crowned.
