2025-04-11

A celebration of tennis and togetherness awaits as the Arkansas State women’s tennis team gears up for their final home game of the season. The event, scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m., will feature a match against Southern Miss and include festivities for the entire family. This occasion also marks Senior Day, where the program will pay tribute to Abby Thurmer, an esteemed member of the team.

Community engagement takes center stage during this event, which combines competitive sports with fun activities for all ages. In addition to honoring Thurmer, attendees can enjoy attractions like a kids’ play area and indulge in free burritos provided by A-State’s International Programs office as part of International Day celebrations. Furthermore, USTA Arkansas is offering complimentary pizza to enhance the festive atmosphere. Coach Sujay Lama emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum for upcoming conference championships while fostering connections within the local community.

The day symbolizes not only athletic achievements but also the spirit of growth and unity. With impressive statistics such as clinching ten victories when securing the doubles point and achieving the most wins since 2009, the Red Wolves have demonstrated remarkable progress under Lama's leadership. By integrating educational initiatives and cultural exchange through events like Family Fun Fest, the university continues to inspire young athletes and promote inclusivity in sports. As they look ahead to future competitions, these efforts highlight the value of teamwork, perseverance, and creating lasting memories both on and off the court.
