Unveiling John Magers' New Role in Little League

John Magers' Journey to Central Region Director

Little League® International is proud to announce the elevation of John Magers, Central Region Assistant Director, to the position of Central Region Director effective November 25, 2024. Over the past two years, John has demonstrated exceptional leadership and support. As Corey Wright, Little League East, West, and Central Region Operations Managing Director, stated, "John has done a tremendous job supporting our volunteers and the players throughout the entire Central Region." His leadership during the Little League season, including the operation of tournaments, has highlighted his ability to take on the responsibilities of a Region Director.During his tenure as Central Region Assistant Director since 2022, John has been instrumental in enhancing operations. He has developed and implemented training programs, assisted with tournament operations such as the annual Central Region Little League Softball® Tournament and the Midwest and Great Lakes Little League Baseball® Tournaments. The Central Region Headquarters, which serves 13 states including Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin, has benefited from his efforts.

New Responsibilities and Excitement

Being named Central Region Director is a great honor for John. He recognizes the added responsibilities of overseeing the thousands of volunteers who make Little League possible in the region. Working as the Assistant Region Director these past two years has given him valuable insights into the grassroots workings of the program. It has shown him the dedication and commitment of the volunteers across the Central Region. John looks forward to working with them further in his new role and bringing more opportunities and excitement to the children.Before joining Little League, John worked as an Operations and Sourcing Specialist at Athletx Sports Group in Carmel, Indiana. There, he controlled tournament registrations and credits for Pastime Tournaments and Mid America Baseball and assisted with the operations of Pastime National Championships. He also served as an assistant coach for the Guerin Catholic High School varsity baseball team since 2019.In addition to his work at Athletx Sports Group, John has experience as the Director of Baseball Operations for Imavex Orange Baseball, managing and overseeing 18 travel baseball teams. He has also served as the Site Administrator and Assistant Tournament Director for the Ultimate Tournament Series in Central Indiana. Furthermore, he has worked as an Operations Leader for DICK’S Sporting Goods and as a Gate Attendant and Merchandise Salesman for Bullpen Tournaments at Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, Indiana.John graduated from Manchester University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and a minor in Sales. During his time at the university, he was a member of the baseball team, where he was voted the best teammate and named a scholar athlete. He was also involved as a Treasurer for Manchester Catholics and a member of the College of Business Club.
