Tough Start Against Delaware

The Wildcats faced a formidable challenge in their opening match against the University of Delaware, dropping all 12 contests. While the majority of the singles matches were decided in straight sets, the team's resilience shone through, with Josh Vestal pushing his opponent to a third-set tiebreaker before ultimately falling 6-1, 6-7 (10), 10-1. In doubles, the Villanova duo of Will Monahan and Vestal forced a tiebreaker against their Delaware counterparts before succumbing 7-6 (4).

Bouncing Back Against Fairleigh Dickinson

Undeterred by their earlier setback, the Wildcats regrouped and faced off against Fairleigh Dickinson University the following day. In a closely contested affair, Villanova emerged victorious in 4 of the 7 singles matches. Monahan led the charge, capturing a hard-fought three-set win over FDU's Griffyn Minor, 5-7, 7-6 (7), 10-5. Freshmen Cameron Kruep, Jack Sherner, and Evan Ancu also secured singles victories in the fourth, sixth, and seventh flights, respectively. In doubles, the Wildcats split the results, with Ancu and Sherner earning a tiebreaker victory, 7-6 (5), while the other Villanova pairings fell in their respective matches.

Tough Finish Against NJIT

On the final day of the Dragon Invitational, the Wildcats faced a tough challenge against NJIT, dropping all five singles matches. Despite the overall team result, several Villanova players showcased their resilience, with Gordon, Ancu, and Vestal all pushing their opponents to third-set tiebreakers. In doubles, the Wildcats managed to secure a victory in the third flight, as Ancu and Sherner earned a 6-2 triumph.
